Óhalászi Holt-Tisza tour
Departure from the Holt-Tisza in Füred via the Örvényi-morotva and the 8th flushing channel to the Tisza, and then from there via the 6th flushing channel to the Óhalászi Holt-Tisza, which cannot be visited by internal combustion engine.
This horseshoe-shaped backwater, accessible via a reed-lined canal, takes its name from the settlement that once stood here before the reservoir was flooded, and traces of it still remain today. It is characterized by its dark, crystal-clear water, fairy roses, and standing logs, which are home to a rich birdlife – terns, grebes, cormorants, herons, and, in the fall, golden eagles.

The Tisza bloom is a spectacular swarm of the long-tailed mayfly (Palingenia longicauda) that lives in the Tisza River. This event occurs when larvae that have been developing in the riverbed for several years hatch en masse, then mate and lay their eggs in the water during their short life span of a few hours. The mayflies spend most of their lives - up to three years - in the river mud, and then emerge from the water's surface all at once on a single summer evening.
Since the exact date of this unique natural phenomenon cannot be determined /usually around 06-15-20/, it is worth keeping an eye out.
